Be Fruitful

Existence began,
when we fell in love with emptiness.
-Rumi
It is so hard for me to let myself internalize this poem due to the fear that Rumi may be correct in his thinking. In a desperate attempt at self-actualization, selflessness and emptiness are two ideas that are hard for humans, moreover, myself, to give into.
Human domination has been key ever since our existence. We have found ways and doctrines that give us the key to opening the door towards selfish pursuits as well as roads that define us as the pinnacle of existence in the creature world. "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." We are the shit. The world was made for our existence, and the rest of it all is held under our subjection. What a world to live in.
So this statement, like many before and many after, states that to put off selfishness down to the core of humanity, to put it off, and relish a nothingness that seems less than human, is the beginning, the cusp of feeling true existence. Is this an allusion to break this god-head instruction and step back into the natural circle of life which may bring the conclusion that this world, this earth, this space, and this universe was not just created for us. But maybe, that there is something all the much more for the rest of the world. What existence is he speaking of; well, Rumi was the one who danced daily and proclaimed his love for the ever-glorious being that is God. He was the one living a new existence.
Be Relentless,
Peace
